Why this directory exists, and how a listing actually gets here.

Each city is a dated pass by a named editor: clear offer, contactability, pricing honesty (confirmed rates or “ask”), and who the day is actually for. Featured Partner, if any, is labeled. It never changes that score.

Guides can list themselves for free. A guide that pays a recurring fee gets top placement on their city's page, marked Featured Partner. Paid placement changes ordering only — it never changes a guide's editor score, reviews, or verification status.
